Research question
What arrival evidence supports coverage for a defined queue? Use timestamps, work type, urgency, handling constraints, and promise windows rather than a monthly total.
Method
Collect a representative period, normalize time zones, and separate automated noise, reopened items, planned work, and true arrivals. Identify seasonal events and missing data.
Interpretation
Use arrival bands for a pilot schedule, handoff, and overflow owner. Historic arrivals do not prove future volume or productivity; task mix and approval delays matter.
Decision use
Approve coverage with a service objective, backlog rule, escalation contact, and review date. Compare arrival, handling, waiting, and abandonment separately.
